Michael Mixtacki is a performer, recording artist and educator living in San Antonio, TX. He teaches percussion, drum set and co-directs the percussion ensemble at the University of Texas at San Antonio, and is an active freelance performer and teacher throughout the city. 

Michael has been a guest artist at universities, high schools and summer camps across the country, and has been featured on two Grammy nominated recordings: "Latin Jazz/Jazz Latin" with the Wayne Wallace Latin Jazz Quintet, and "Canto America" with Wayne Wallace and Michael Spiro. He had the pleasure of performing with Ritmos Unidos for five years, directed by Michael Spiro, and was the lead singer and percussionist for the Afro-Cuban folkloric group Ire Elese Abure in Chicago. As a classical performer, Michael has performed with the Madison Symphony Orchestra and the Mid Texas Symphony, along with solo performances as a marimbist and multi-percussionist.

Michael is a Yamaha performing artist, and also endorses Latin Percussion (LP) instruments, Remo drumheads, Sabian cymbals, and Innovative Percussion Sticks and mallets.
